What We Are All About

The Aberdeen Area Gift of Life transplant support group was formed in 1997 with a charter group of five members and has grown ever since. We would like to thank all who have donated organs to those in need. Our group realizes the hardship of making the decision to donate, and we are here to thank you.Aberdeen Area Gift of Life gives support to its members and support to the community by sharing our experiences with others. To share our Gift of Life we have become a presence in our community. We participate in community service projects, raise awareness for the importance of organ donation, and lend emotional support to those that organ donation has affected. If you would like to get involved, check out our calendar of events or contact any of our officers.

It's been awhile...

Sorry it's been so long since I have updated. We have been having our monthly meetings at The Millstone. I'm sorry to say we have lost a few members this past year, they will be missed greatly. We have kept up with the tradition of  "stuffing" bags for the Salvation Army. We celebrated Christmas with our annual potluck.

National Donate Life Month!

We are so thankful to all those that took the time to come to our meeting this month. April is a very special month for our group since it is National Donate Life Month! We appreciate all of those that have helped us during our time of need.A special shout out goes to our donors, without them we wouldn't be here today, so THANK YOU!

JJ Perry from the American News was our speaker for the meeting- Thanks for all your hard work to help keep the Aberdeen community informed for our meetings!

Helping the Salvation Army

On Saturday some of our group members came together to help stuff bags for the Salvation Army to pass out to local nursing homes. We do this twice a year and is always a lot of fun!

We ♥ Our Members!

We met for our February meeting earlier this month. Not a lot to report, but we do need volunteers to help stuff the bags for the Salvation Army. I am also putting together a Kidney Walk team if anyone is interested. The walk is on June 11 at Sertoma Park, Sioux Falls. Let me know if you would like to join our cause!

January Meeting...BRRR

Sonya with her daughter Terri
The meeting was short and sweet! The winter months our group tends to relax a bit and enjoy time with family and friends.

Holiday Potluck was a Success...even with the crummy weather :(

Mandy and her daughter
On December first we had our annual Holiday Potluck. We had fun sharing holiday stories and eating all the goodies. We even had time to play a little Christmas Name that Tune! Sue is exceptionally good at this game, good thing she was on the girls team:)

The Tree is Up!

Every year we put up a Christmas Tree at the local museum. It displays the names of all our members and their donors. It truly is a precious gift. The tree will be on display until shortly after Christmas.

We will be celebrating Christmas this year on December 1st at Zion Lutheran Church. All are welcome to join.

Helping the Salvation Army!

Every year we like to help out our local Salvation Army. We stuff bags with goodies for them to distribute to local nursing homes. Thanks to everyone who helped!

EEK...It's already October!

October was a busy month for us. We participated in the 100th year of the Gypsy Day Parade for NSU. As always we had a blast! There were four of us from the group to help hand out our goodies. Our new President, Mandy, even rode in the float. Jodi made a sign that said "New Heart April 2015" and we placed it where she was sitting. Mandy received a lot of applause and cheers, it was amazing to see.
Cara from the Library

We also had our October meeting with guest speaker Cara Romeo from the Alexander Mitchell Public Library. She spoke about some very interesting events coming to the library in the next few weeks. Who knew so much was going on at the library?!?

Janet and Dennis performing the candle light ceremony, since they were unable to attend last months meeting.

Please join us for our next meeting:November 3rd, 2015 @ Millstone at 6pm

August Picnic & September Meeting

In August we had our annual picnic at Centennial!
We were enjoying the beautiful weather:)
Our September meeting was jam packed with activities and news.
Loren celebrating 19 years!!!
September brought big changes to our group! We held our elections and we added a new Vice President and President! Our new VP is Kathy Faey-she has been a member through thick and thin. We are glad she has joined our team of officers. As a group we think she will do an amazing job at helping our new president! Which brings me to my next point: Mandy Weaver has been sworn in as our new president!!! Please take the time to congratulate her when you see her around town:) I think she will do an amazing job(even with the big shoes to fill...hehe). Pics will be posted after the next meeting with our new officers.

I would like to take this time to say a big THANK YOU to all of those that helped and supported me during my presidency of Aberdeen Area Gift of Life. It was a pleasure to serve for these past two years and am excited to see where we will go from here!
 Thank You,
Samantha Huber
